Rare chance to own Peter Hook Signature BB Bass Guitar

STOP PRESS: The charity auction of the brand new Yamaha Guitars Peter Hook Signature BB for Epilepsy Society runs for another two days until 5pm GMT Thursday December.
Added to the package is a complete set of Joy Division AND New Order vinyl LPs courtesy of Warner Music UK which Hooky will also sign for the highest bidder as well as the bass.

Guitarist Peter Hook is captured on stage, performing on his signature Yamaha guitar

Peter, a founding member of seventies band Joy Division, has been a long-time supporter of the charity in memory of his friend and bandmate Ian Curtis. The post-punk singer and lyricist had epilepsy and tragically died at the age of 23.

Peter is joining forces with Yamaha Guitars by auctioning off a Peter Hook Signature BB Bass Guitar. The limited edition guitar has been donated by Yamaha Guitars and will be signed by Peter with a message of the winner’s choice.

If the winner is able to travel to Manchester, Peter will present the guitar in person. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Epilepsy Society.

How to bid for the guitar

You can place your bid here for a unique chance to own this guitar.

'You will be a happy bassist'

Peter Hook said: “If this guitar does for you what it did for me, you will be a very happy bassist! Seriously though, without Ian Curtis and his help in the group I would never have achieved half of what I have done. To lose him as we did to a terrible disease was heart-breaking and my hope and ambition is that nobody will suffer in the same way ever again.”

Nicola Swanborough, Head of External Affairs at the Epilepsy Society said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to own a signature Peter Hook bass guitar, signed by the man himself. True friendship lasts a lifetime, but Hooky’s friendship with Ian Curtis, has lasted much longer. The money raised through the auction of this guitar will help to ensure that our Helpline is there for anyone to call in their darkest moment. Music can be healing in so many ways and this generous gift is truly one of them.”

Epilepsy Society’s Helpline provides emotional support and information to people affected by epilepsy.

The auction runs from today until 5pm on 17  December 2020.
