NHS England Chief Executive resignation

Amanda Pritchard, NHS England Chief Executive stepped down from her role today and will leave at the end of March. Sir James Mackey will be taking over as Transition CEO of NHS England, working closely with Amanda for the next month before taking up post formally on the first of April.

Following the news of Amanda Pritchard’s resignation as Chief Executive of NHS England, Clare Pelham, Chief Executive of the Epilepsy Society said: “We would like to wish Amanda Pritchard all the best for the future and hope that the incoming chief executive of NHS England will focus on issues which are fundamental to the health of many with long-term health conditions, such as epilepsy, including the ongoing issue of medication shortages.

“Wes Streeting is looking for a new leader with the drive and dynamism that will transform the healthcare system ahead of his 10-year plan. So are we. Medication shortages are putting lives at risk on a daily basis. It is important that the NHS is on top of this and recognises the vulnerability of people with cliff-edge conditions, such as epilepsy, for whom lack of medication can be fatal.”
