Lockdown: inside story - share your story

During these challenging times, we would like to share some of your personal stories of coping during the covid-19 crisis. This will be through a regular post – Lockdown: inside story – here on our website and shared through social media. We would like to hear your stories and personal experiences and how your life has changed due to covid-19, self isolation and social distancing.

You can submit your story as a blog, video or just photos. It is up to you.

It would be good if you could follow the structure below (in bold) for your blog/vlog (video blog), but the suggestions under each question are for guidance only. Please adapt to make them personal to you. If your photos/video feature other people, please make sure you have permission to share these. Also, please fill in the consent form, attached, to enable us to share these on our website and via our social media channels.

Please email your blog/vlog to press.office@epilepsysociety.org.uk , putting Lockdown: Inside story in the subject field.

Coronavirus and epilepsy

How has coronavirus and the need to social distance/self isolate affected your life?

For example, do you worry more about going for a daily walk in case you have a seizure?

How are you coping with being at home all the time?

It may be that  your seizures mean you are mainly at home, alone even, and nothing has changed. What advice would you give to others for whom this is a new experience?

What are the challenges posed by covid-19 for you?

Are you managing to get your prescription for your epilepsy medication?

Are you managing to get virtual/telephone appointments with your doctor/specialist nurse?

Are you managing to get your shopping?

If you are in self isolation, are you able to contact friends, relatives, neighbours to help out?

Have you made contact with any volunteer groups that you have found particularly useful?

What technology do you use to keep in touch?

How does social distancing/self isolation make you feel?

Are you still able to work?

What are the challenges of working from home?

If this is a new experience, is it a good one?

How does technology help you?

How you found ways to cope with always being indoors?

Any innovative forms of entertainment or activities that you have devised to help pass the time.

Have you taken up/discovered any new hobbies during lockdown?

What are the main challenges you face coping with family life and supporting children/elderly relatives in these difficult times?

Challenges and ways to overcome these

Are there any positives experiences or  lessons you have learned from this experience?

Eg new ways of working, new ways of looking at different problems.

What is the most recent thing that made you laugh or smile?

This can be work or home related.
