Epilepsy Society at Party Conferences 2026 – Email your MP

The Epilepsy Society is attending the major political party conferences this year to push epilepsy up the political agenda. We need your help.

Constituents have a powerful voice. By contacting your MP and asking them to visit our exhibition stand or event, you can help them understand the real challenges faced by people living with epilepsy.

What we are doing

  • At the Labour and Liberal Democrat conferences: We are launching our new #KeepCareCool campaign, which will highlight the impact heat has on the health of people with neurological conditions such as epilepsy. We will have an exhibition stand at both, as well as a dedicated event at the Labour conference exploring how the Government can support vulnerable people’s health in extreme heat.
  • At the Conservative and Reform UK conferences: We will be shining a light on medication shortages and calling for an end to national supply chain failures and local dispensing delays.

We are also attending the Green Party Conference but will not have an exhibition stand. We will still be championing people with epilepsy and to make connections that matter.

How you can help

  1. Find your MP: Look up your local Member of Parliament and their contact information here: https://members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP
  2. Choose your template: Copy the relevant email template below for your MP's political party.
  3. Make it personal: Please consider adding a few sentences about your own experience of living with epilepsy. Personal stories make a huge impact.
  4. Keep in touch: Let us know at campaigns@epilepsysociety.org.uk if you hear back from your MP so we can provide them with additional support and information.

Template email to your Labour MP

Subject: Invitation to Epilepsy Society’s Extreme Heat event at the Labour Party Conference

Dear [MP name],

I am writing to invite you to the Epilepsy Society’s event and exhibition stand at the Labour Party Conference.

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects about one in 100 people in the UK. With around 1,000 people in your constituency living with epilepsy, this is an important opportunity to learn more about the condition and understand the current challenges they face.

Extreme heat is a health emergency. Heatwaves have become the norm, but the UK is not built for our climate. Without action, the health of vulnerable people is at risk. Extreme heat can trigger symptoms for those with neurological conditions, such as increased seizures in epilepsy. We need infrastructure to protect health year-round and to Keep Care Cool.

We would love for you to join us to discuss this further at our dedicated event, or by dropping by our exhibition stand.

For many people with epilepsy, missing even a single dose of time-critical medication can be life-threatening. According to an Epilepsy Society survey, almost two thirds of people were unable to get their medication in the past year, and over a quarter were unable to in the past month.

For patients with cliff-edge conditions like epilepsy, medication is essential. To protect lives, the Epilepsy Society is calling for an end to national supply chain failures and local dispensing delays.

Please visit the Epilepsy Society’s exhibition stand to learn more.
