Day case admissions
You may be asked to come to the Sir William Gowers Centre as a day case admission. You will not be required to stay overnight so will not need to bring an overnight bag with you. However, you should bring your medication and continue to take it as normal.
Reasons for being admitted as a day case
You may be admitted as a day case admission if you need appointments for two or more of the following tests:
- An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) or fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging)
- EEG (electroencephalograph), routine or ambulatory. If you have an ambulatory EEG you will be able to go home over night, taking the portable EEG with you
- Neuropsychology tests
- Neuropsychiatry tests
- ECG (electrocardiograph)
- Blood tests
- Appointment with occupational therapist
- Appointment with social worker
If you are being referred to the centre for an assessment, you may be asked to first come for a pre-admission clinic. This will include an hour’s consultation with a registrar and a 45 minute appointment with a nurse to discuss practical issues such as diet and mobility.
