Epilepsy Society exhibition at House of Commons

Invite your MP

We are holding an exhibition about epilepsy in the House of Commons in May and we need your help to make sure that all 650 MPs come and visit us.

With over 630,000 people in the UK living with epilepsy we know that every MP will represent around 1,000 constituents with epilepsy, so this is an ideal opportunity to learn about the condition, how it impacts lives and about our all important seizure first aid messaging, Calm, Cushion, Call.

We need you to contact your MP with a personal invite to attend and to tell them why it is so important to learn about epilepsy. You will find a template letter below which you can download, complete and send to your MP. You can also key in your postcode at the link here to find out who your MP is and how to contact them.

The exhibition will be from Monday 19 May – Friday 23 May in the Upper Waiting Hall of the House of Commons. This area is not open to the general public but MPs and people giving evidence to committees will walk past the display.

We want every MP to know how epilepsy is more than just seizures, the impact it has on the individual, their family and loved ones, employment, mental and physical health and the daily challenges facing people with epilepsy. If you could spare five minutes to send this template letter to your MP, the more letters they receive, the more likely they are to pay attention!

Featuring case studies, facts and information about epilepsy, the exhibition is an opportunity for the charity to raise awareness and engage with more MPs. We know when real people share their experiences, it can really make a difference. And if all of our followers sent a letter it could be truly transformative.

Nicola Swanborough, Head of External Affairs said: “We are grateful to the MP Bambos Charalambous for sponsoring our exhibition at the House of Commons. Having met one of his constituents who featured in our medication shortages campaign, he has actively supported the work of Epilepsy Society and through opportunities such as this, we hope to raise more awareness of living with epilepsy.”

We have sent out invitations but it would really make a difference if you could send a letter to your local MP encouraging them to pop into the exhibition. The letter is available to download here.
