Our history
The National Society for the Employment of Epileptics (NSEE) was launched in 1892 by a group of London philanthropists and medical men. The aim of the Society was to establish a 'colony' for people with epilepsy who were capable of work but couldn't find employment due to their condition and the prevailing social attitudes of the time.
Medical services
The Chalfont Centre and our Gowers unit lead the way in the most advanced techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy.
Through the monitoring and observation from the multi-disciplinary team, the centre aims to provide an accurate diagnosis, improve seizure control, optimise drug therapy and assess the skills associated with activities of daily living.

You will find a warm welcome at the Phoenix café, whether you are staying in, or waiting for someone being treated at the research centre, visiting one of our residents, or enjoying the wonderful countryside that surrounds us (your furry canine friends are very welcome too).
