What is your personal best?

National Epilepsy Week 2024

20 May marks the start of National Epilepsy Week 2024. But it is also 100 days to the start of the Paralympics in Paris, when elite athletes from across the globe will be going for gold in their chosen field.

The Olympics and Paralympics are way beyond the reach of most of us, yet every day we all achieve goals – some big, some small – which often go unnoticed, but which definitely deserve a shout out.

That is why during National Epilepsy Week we want to celebrate your Personal Bests across all walks of life. So, while they could be in sport, the arts, music, education, they could also be about living with epilepsy, overcoming your own personal hurdles and celebrating your triumphs.

You may have been seizure free for a week, a month, a year. You may have plucked up the courage to venture outside the house even though you know you run the risk of a seizure. You may have run a marathon or had the courage to tell someone about your epilepsy. You may have just got a job or your driving licence.

The list is endless but no matter how big or small, we want to hear from you. Please share your personal bests with us via photos, videos and posts across all our social media channels.

During the week, our team will be sharing some of their own personal bests but we’re really looking forward to hearing yours.

And importantly, if you feel that epilepsy is stopping you from achieving your personal best, do feel free to share that too. Epilepsy affects people in different ways at different times. It is important to recognise the highs and the lows and what it means for you.

Other ways to get involved in National Epilepsy Week 2024

We are launching a new epilepsy awareness video which is free to share with friends and colleagues as part of a lunch 'n learn event or perhaps during a community event.

You can find out more here.

Or you can share our Calm, Cushion, Call infographic on social media or download a poster here.
