Epilepsy Society appoints Transformation Director to help revolutionise treatment of epilepsy

We are thrilled to announce that Sanjay Sisodiya has been appointed to the new role of Transformation Director at the Epilepsy Society. Professor Sisodiya will combine this role with his clinical and research responsibilities at UCLH and UCL. This is as part of our much-valued partnership with UCLH and UCL that brings so many benefits to people with epilepsy.

Professor Sanjay Sisodiya has glasses and a beard. He is wearing a dark jacket and a light coloured shirt and is looking straight at the camers. It is a warm photo although he is not smiling.

In his new role Sanjay will lead the transformation of our current research and medical services towards the establishment of the expanded provision that we aspire to achieve if our application for planning permission is successful. This will enable us to make best use of our charitable assets for people with epilepsy, converting the wealth in our land into vital research and better diagnosis and treatments for people with epilepsy.

Professor Mike Hanna, Director of UCL, Queen Square Institute of Neurology, said: “I am very pleased to see that the university and the charity are working so closely together to achieve the transformation for people with epilepsy that this opportunity will unlock. It is a once in a generation opportunity and I look forward to supporting Sanjay in his new leadership role.”

Clare Pelham, Chief Executive at the Epilepsy Society, said: “Sanjay is one of the most eminent and respected voices in the field of epilepsy research and practice. He is both person-centred and innovative and we are delighted that he will lead this transformation that could revolutionise the treatment of epilepsy for current and future generations.”
