New packaging for Buccolam (midazolam) oromucosal solution

Neuraxpharm UK has informed us of a change to the packaging for all strengths of its oral syringes containing Buccolam (midazolam) oromucosal solution.

The self-adhesive strap that used to act as a seal for the tubes containing the syringes has now been removed. Tubes are now fitted with a new, ridged cap that fits better and stays in place without the need for a seal. The new cap can still be removed quickly to access the syringe inside.

The removal of the seal does not affect how Buccolam should be administered. Neuraxpharm has let health professionals know that they can continue to prescribe it as usual, but may want to update patient care plans to reflect the new packaging.
